Promoting The Presidential Dollar

PRESIDENTIAL $1 COIN PROGRAM PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS

In order to help citizens promote the Presidential Dollars, the U.S. Mint offered free materials to financial institutions, retail merchants, educators, and other organizations free of charge. The materials provided a general overview of the Presidential $1 Coin Program and promoted awareness and availability of the new Presidential $1 Coins to a variety of audiences. The materials included posters, hand bills, collector boards, bookmarks, window decals, campaign-style buttons, and educational CD's. These materials were used educate customers, employees, or other interested parties about the new legal tender Presidential $1 Coins. Below are images of some of the promotional items.

A POTPOURRI OF DOLLAR COIN PROMOS

Here is an imaginative way to promote the use of small dollar coins
instead of "dirty" paper money. This clever rhyme reads "This
dirty dollar, ripped and stained, is full of germs, no doubt
* Use the dollar coin instead - it's clean and won't wear out."

Here is another one. It reads: "Where has this dollar been? On the
men's room floor? In a stripper's g-string? Use the new dollar coin."

To promote use of small dollars, Jeff Kelley counterstamped "SPEND ME"
on hundreds of small dollars and placed them in circulation. He placed the
counterstamp on all types of small dollars, i.e. Anthony, Sacagawea,
Presidential, and Native American Dollars. He has also used this
counterstamp on Kennedy Halves and obsolete coins such
as cull Liberty Nickels and dateless Buffalo Nickels.

Here is a wood that was created to encourage elimination of the
paper dollar and to promote use of the dollar coin. It was
created and distributed by Leon Reino of New Jersey.

Here is an image sent to me by collector Joshua Holman
of a vending machine he found that is promoting the use
of the Presidential $1 Coins.

PRESIDENTIAL DOLLAR LAUNCH CEREMONIES

Beginning in 2007 and concluding in approximately 2016, the U. S. Mint will release four Presidential Dollars each year until each eligible President has been so honored. The mint is holding an official release ceremony to promote many of the Presidential Dollar coins, with others "unofficial" ceremonies are held, and a few had no launch ceremony held at all. Ceremonies may include the Director of the Mint, local/regional dignitaries, descendants of the President, give-aways, bands, re-enacters, etc. Below are the dates, places, and a brief description of each official release ceremony.
