The Anthony Dollar Model

OBVERSE MODEL

This original steel engraving by G. E. Perine & Co., N.Y., was used as the obverse model for the Anthony Dollar. This plate is from the 1881 edition of History of Woman Suffrage. The six volume set of History of Woman Suffrage was compiled beginning in 1848 and completed in 1920. Contributing authors are Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Matilda Joslyn Gage, and Ida Husted Harper.

DID YOU KNOW?

Susan B. Anthony was the first woman and only the second living person, other than a President, to be used on
a circulating US coin. Ben Franklin was the first person, having been used on the Half Dollar from 1948-1963.

REVERSE MODEL

The reverse design of the Susan B. Anthony Dollar
was chosen to commemorate man's first moon landing.
It was adapted from the Apollo 11 insignia.
